Our kits are designed to include the quantity of fiber you need to knit or crochet both the tension sample and the garment in the size you bought, based on that same tension sample.
Different reasons may explain why you've run out of yarn before finishing your project:
> First of all, we recommend that you check your tension and compare it with the one recommended in the pattern. Making a tension sample before starting your project is one of the most important steps, as it guarantees that your final measurements will match perfectly with the ones you see in the pattern. The tension sample also determines the fiber consumption, so if your tension differs because you're knitting too loose (less stitches per inch/cm, resulting in a bigger sized piece), you may run out of yarn.
> If your sample was initially correct, make sure that you've maintained that same gauge throughout the whole project. To do so, you can measure your tension in different areas of your project.
> If your tension is correct, we recommend that you check if the stitches and rows in your project match the pattern instructions for your size. You may have accidentally added more rows or stitches to the project which causes you to use more yarn than the amount calculated in the kit according to each pattern and size. If you are knitting, learn how to count stitches and rows in our blog, or if you are crocheting, please see: count stitches and rows.
If you detect a gauge issue, you have two options:
- you can unravel your work and start again making sure to tighten your tension. This is best option to ensure that your final garment will have the correct measurements, texture and fit. Try knitting the gauge sample as indicated in the pattern and if you still can't reach the recommended tension, we suggest to go down a needle/crochet hook size to compensate and match the pattern tension. Once you've achieved the correct tension, you can begin your project making sure to maintain the correct tension throughout the whole project. By doing this, you will surely have enough yarn to finish your garment and it will fit you perfectly!
Don't get discouraged if you get it wrong the first couple of times, we are sure your finished garment will be worth it 💪.
- you can buy extra yarn on our website to finish your garment. If you go for this option, please keep in mind that since your tension is too loose, your measurements won't be the ones expected: they will be bigger and consequently will affect the final fit.
You have the right tension and followed the instructions correctly but still don't have enough yarn? Send us pictures of your work on a flat surface with a measuring tape positioned on top to measure both width and length. We will have a look at it together with our experts and provide all the help you need! 😊

I need 1 ball of Sand, ESB86080595; lot #289607. I should have had three balls in my kit. I only received two.
